Mindi (Millgate) Martin--Still Dancing!

I’ve loved reading everyone’s info. I can’t believe it’s really been 10 years! Well, this is what I’ve been up to. Two weeks after high school graduation I started school at BYU. I majored in English and danced on BYU’s dance team the Cougarettes. We won Nationals in Florida, danced at the Holiday Bowl, Disneyworld, Parades, etc. (oh the glory days!). I absolutely loved every second of my time at BYU! I met my husband Brian when I needed a date for a Cougarette party and asked him to go with me. He loves telling everyone how I asked him out. We got married in August of 1999. We both graduated from BYU in August of 2000 and moved to Vancouver, Washington where Brian attended Chiropractic School. We lived there for four years and I put him through school by working as the Lead Estimator for a traffic signal supply company. I loved the company and the people I worked with. I also had my own little dance studio which I totally loved! After Brian graduated he accepted an Associate Doctor position in a large practice in Tehachapi, California. We have lived in Tehachapi since 2004 and have grown to really love it here. (We are in the mountains north of Los Angeles out of the traffic and smog). Brian is now a partner in the practice and will own the practice in three years. He loves what he does and we feel really blessed for his success!

I work for NASA at Edwards AFB as a Financial Analyst. I’m in charge of Budget Execution for our center. I’ve been able to see the most amazing things, travel to many different places and working for the Federal Government has been really educational.

I, of course, teach dance in the evenings and have a dance team I take to competitions and conventions around the state which I absolutely love! Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to have any children yet but we just submitted our adoption papers and are continuing to try different fertility treatments. As soon as we are blessed with a baby I plan on opening my own dance studio and stay at home with the baby. As for now, all my dance girls are like my daughters!. I’m so glad everyone is doing so well and I look forward to seeing you all at the reunion!

Hey Mindi,

Don't you love reading these blogs? It's fun to catch up on everyone's last 10 years. It sounds like you two kids are doing well. I had a hunch you'd end up teaching dance somewhere. I hope everything goes well with the whole adoption thing. It'll be fun to see you and say hi at the reunion.

Katie,
Thanks for writing! You have a beautiful family and being a Doula sounds really interesting. You'll have to tell me more about it at the reunion! See you soon.

Aubrey-
It's great to hear from you! Are you coming to the reunion? I would love to see you and your family. Of course I remember all our good times! It started in like 2nd grade eating at Benihana's and hanging out. Then, cheering together at Valley, that was such a fun year! I hope everything is going well for you! Hopefully I'll see you soon.
